The
Gemstone that are enhanced are produced
by utilizing a thin film optical
coating. This process is known as
physical vapor deposition. The thin
film coating is durable and hard.
The coating is only microns in thickness,
it is not deposited in thick layers.
If the wearer utilizes care, the
enhancement will last the life of
the jewelry settings.
When
setting the stones in the jewelry,
all work should be done to the jewelry
setting prior to placing the enhanced
gemstone into the setting. This
will assure no damage is done to
enhanced gemstone. This gemstone
is to be treated some as you would
an opal or pearl.
The
enhanced gemstone should not be
exposed to any abrasives, acids
or immersed in an untrasonic cleaner.
Abrasive cloths may scratch the
enhanced surface of the gemstone.
High heat may adversely affect the
refractive index eliminating color
intensity. Heat should not be applied
to the enhanced surface of the gemstone.
To
avoid problems, maintain the rule
to treat all enhanced gemstone as
as opal or pearl. Avoid all abrasives/acids/scouring
powders/jewelr's rouges/polishing
cloths or mechanical polishing to
the gemstone itself.
CLEANERS
: Can use any cleaners that are
safe for Pearl or Opals. In fact,
a mild soap and water rinse also
works well.
